So this weekend, Sat I went to the 1:54 Contemporary African Arts at Somerset House. This festival is in its fourth year and its set to stay. I went on Saturday and it was packed. Packed. For me, it’s been really nice to see young black people taking in the exhibits. Next year I’ll bringing my teenage nephews and niece to it because the atmosphere was very friendly and you could ask question about each piece of work. I was surprise at the size of festival there is a lot to see.
The Malick Sidibe photographic exhibit is at Somerset House until Jan 17 and it’s the first time his work has been shown in UK. Malick Sidibe and Gordon Parks photographic works were the highlight for me.
Here some of my favourite bits and the Festival end on Sunday 9th Oct 2016. For information about 1:54 Contemporary African Arts Festival go to the website and join their newsletter, it’s a great way to find out about news, events and happenings.
